Call for video work

OPEN CALL -> Video Guerrilha - November 2011

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 11

New Visual Languages - Monumental Projection of Moving Images

1 - VIDEO GUERRILHA - Edition S. Paulo, Brazil, calls for worldwide
applications from international artists in moving images, as of 18OCT11.
Moving images covers contemporary practices in video art, animation and
motion design among others.

2 - All interested artists are invited to submit their applications through
the website www.videoguerrilha.com.br/opencall

3 - Each artist should submit an application only once under each section,
maximum 04 works.

4 - Only 01 work from each artist will be selected for this concept Moving
Images.

5 – Together with application, all works that will be submitted must be
sent through FTP sites or a similar service, and the file name should
include the name of the applicant, emailed to
inscricao@videoguerrilha.com.br in compression/formats indicated
hereunder:
a) projects incorporating static images ( videos with stills ) should be
compressed and send to the email address mentioned above, 3, b. The
only formats that will be accepted are: .avi, .mov, .wmv or .mp4, codecs
h264, MPG- 4, wmv, cinepack, frame rate 25.25 or 30 FPS,
data rate 2000 through 5000, resolution 768 (horizontal) x 1024 (vertical)
pixels, maximum duration 180 seconds;

b) Total size of these files should not exceed 50 MB;
c) This open call includes the structural details of the buildings where the
projections will take place

6 - All selected artists will be notified of the locations and timing of the
projection of their works.

7- Deadline for application forms and files will be 11Nov11, 23h59 Brasilia
(Brazil) time

- Publication of works in a virtual catalogue online
8- Works selection will be up to the curatorial committee, composed by
professionals appointed by Video Guerrilha and 1 member of the
organizing committee; the following aspects will be assessed:
-
- Concept
- Technical skills
- Artistic creativity /innovation/aesthetics
- Harmony
- Composition
- Originality
- Final art quality
9 - Without the necessary user rights for all image/sound, content will be
not accepted.

10 - The result of the final selection will be posted on the Video Guerrilha
website www.videoguerrilha.com.br on 15NOV11. Selected artists will be
contacted by email.

11 - All selected works will be showed on a continuous loop during all of
the projection period.

12 - Video Guerrilha will publish the names of all selected artists on its
website www.videoguerrilha.com.br and also on a virtual press release.
13 - Video Guerrilha will post a virtual catalogue, VG ONLINE with all
participating artists’ names and short biography, as well as their work.

a) all artists’ credits will be displayed on buildings, in alphabetic order, at the
beginning of each nightly projection
b) all artists’ credits will be displayed in the electronic catalogue at the
beginning of each work on display
14 - All selected artists will assign the organizing company Visualfarm the
free use of their work for promotion purposes, in print, tv and the net. This
authorization will cover the period before, during and after the event. This
contract form will be sent to all selected artists to be signed, dated and
returned to the organization.

a) VG has a substantial network with art institutions and art galleries in
Brazil, and if there will be and interest by any art institution/galley to invite
any artist participating in VG 2011, the organization will put the interested
parties in contact, without any financial gain in exchange.
b) VG will make a short documentary on the projection event
that may be downloaded for promotion purposes by all participating
artists.

This is something that i absolutely love.  It takes my favorite movie as a kid and makes it become alive.  The combination of engineering and animation come together to make a new form to express ones self.
